LGBT Tech & PowerOn Featured: How Our Partnership with ComputerCare Is Supercharging Tech Access

ree

We’re thrilled to share that LGBT Tech’s impactful PowerOn program was recently spotlighted in a heartfelt feature on ComputerCare’s blog, titled "How LGBT Tech’s PowerOn Program Connects Communities to Life-Changing Technology." The article beautifully captures the transformative ways PowerOn equips LGBTQ+ individuals with devices that can mean the difference between isolation and thriving.

While PowerOn’s work has always centered on distributing laptops, tablets, smartphones, and more to LGBTQ+ community centers across the U.S., the piece goes further, highlighting our strategic partnership with ComputerCare. Rather than letting logistics bog us down, ComputerCare now handles equipment procurement, storage, and distribution, allowing our team to focus on what truly matters: community relationships, program growth, and impact.

One recipient shared the personal difference this makes:

“...She was able to set up a safe email and use the device to connect with an LGBTQ+ affirming counselor. She has since been able to come out to family and return the technology as she no longer needs to hide her identity.”

This is just one of many stories showcasing how PowerOn technology opens doors to mental health, employment, healthcare, and safety for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Thanks to the strength of our collaboration with ComputerCare, we’ve not only streamlined our operations, we’ve also boosted our reach. With logistics covered, LGBT Tech can respond faster to grant applications, serve more communities, and dedicate more energy to community-building efforts. The result: life-changing technology reaching people who need it most, faster and more effectively than ever.

We’re incredibly proud of this partnership with ComputerCare, this is what synergy looks like: two mission-aligned organizations leveraging shared values to create real, tangible change. A heartfelt thank you to ComputerCare for their critical role in expanding lifelines to LGBTQ+ communities across the country.
