LGBT Tech is prominently featured in The Hill article “Tech CEO hearing reignites debate around kids safety bill”, which revisits advocacy concerns around the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) and its “duty of care” provisions. As part of a broad coalition, including the ACLU and other civil liberties groups, LGBT Tech warns of unintended consequences that could result from attempts to regulate online content for minors.
The Hill piece explains how these regulations, though aimed at protecting children from online harm, may inadvertently lead platforms to remove LGBTQ+ educational and support content to avoid liability. LGBT Tech joins nearly 30 organizations in urging legislators to craft policies that safeguard youth while maintaining access to vital community resources and speech.
“Nearly 30 organizations, including LGBT Tech and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), voiced concerns with the bill’s ‘duty of care’ provision.”
