"We at LGBT Tech are deeply concerned with the recent enactment of Florida H.B. 3, which seeks to enforce a blanket ban on users under 14 from accessing social media platforms. By prohibiting the opening of accounts solely based on age criteria, this bill serves as a barrier for millions of users that do not have accurate or accepted identification, and seriously risks the personal and data privacy of users that do. Unfortunately, H.B. 3 further adds to a patchwork of confusing and inconsistent regulations across states, ultimately making efforts to protect vulnerable users online far more difficult and far less comprehensive."
